Viena Latina – Viviendo entre mundos/Viena Latina – Living between worlds

No centro estiveram sempre o encontro, a participação e o diálogo.

Viena Latina - Living between worlds

Around 20,000 people from Latin America and the Caribbean currently live in Vienna. They are active in many areas of city life and enrich Vienna's culture in lively and diverse ways.

A wide-ranging, EU-funded project (CERV Programme) is dedicated to their life stories: Viena Latina. Through various forms of collecting and documenting, a rich and diverse archive has been created. At its heart, the project is about encounter, participation, and dialogue.

This exhibition grew out of the project, bringing together all areas of work from the project. It offers insights into the knowledge and experiences that were developed together with the community. Working closely with the Viena Latina team in shaping the exhibition was especially valuable. This networking is also reflected in the exhibition's design: graphic lines trace migration journeys, individual paths, and the stories that connect us. The knowledge gathered from the project remains accessible at www.vienalatina.org Öffnet externe Seite..

The creative collaboration of many community members led to the exhibition’s central piece: an emotional textile map. During its creation, conversations about memories, experiences, and hopes for the future were shared — and many of these stories are woven into the fabric itself, connected and intertwined. The textile map will become part of Wien Museum’s collection, preserving a piece of Latin America and the Caribbean within the city’s material memory.
