Tabea Rude, MA

Biography

Born in Siegen, Germany, in 1989; apprenticed as a watchmaker in Pforzheim; studies in Dynamic Object Conservation at West Dean College & the University of Sussex, graduated with a master’s degree; Conservator in residence at the electromechanical clock museum The Clockworks in London. Conservator for clocks and automata at the Wien Museum since 2017; additionally, contact person for the clock collection since 2019.

Research interest

•    Early electrical time keeping and distribution 1850-1950
•    Use and degradation of historical plastic insulation
•    Tactical timekeeping in convoys at sea during the First and Second World War
•    Fire alarm telegraphy
