
Alexandra Pfefferle is the Director of the Illinois in Vienna Programs (IiVP), an academic exchange program between the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Wirtschaftsuniversität (WU Wien), the University of Vienna, the University for Natural Ressources and Life Sciences (BOKU), and the Technical University (TU Wien).
After completing her German/English studies at the University of Vienna, including a semester at the Lomonossow State University in Moscow, she finished her MA in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and continued in its PhD Program.
Her dissertation on Contemporary Austrian Literature, “Geschichte(n) in globalisierten ZeitRäumen. Österreichische Romane nach 2000” was published in 2019. Her research areas include Globalization, Migration & Transcultural Exchange, Newer Austrian and German Literature/Film, and Sustainability.
She considers herself privileged to explore Vienna, Austria and Europe, their academic landscape, cultures, and languages with students. Participating in this form of transatlantic dialogue, by creating new opportunities in high-quality, innovative, and multi-disciplinary student exchange, is her true passion.
