All entrances are step-free. The main entrances are to be found on the sides of the pavilion (revolving doors on the side facing the square with automatic double doors on each side).
All parts of the Wien Museum at Karlsplatz can be accessed without using steps. Our exhibitions are also designed to be highly accessible.
Accessible exhibitions: You can find further information about tactile objects, braille or large text, easy-to-understand services, information in Austrian Sign Language, and facilities such as our "Restrooms for All", induction loops, rental wheelchairs, and other available aids and resouces.
Restrooms for All: An accessible restroom of approximately 12 m², offering adequate space for a wheelchair user and two caregivers, is located in the basement. This is equipped with a height-adjustable nursing bench, a ceiling lift, and other functions that make it easier for individuals with complex disabilities to participate in society. The "Restrooms for All" is located in the public part of the museum and can also be used without an entrance ticket.
Visitors are permitted to bring an assistance dog. Caregivers are admitted for free.
The ateliers for our range of workshops are located at terrace level.
Strollers can be parked in the entrance pavilion. Baby strollers may only be taken along if space is available. Ticket office staff will be happy to provide relevant information.
There is a changing table for babies in the accessible restrooms at every level.
Parking spaces for bicycles can be found to the left of the main entrance and to the right in Symphonikerstraße.

A digital guide with additional information about more than 100 objects is offered to those visiting the permanent exhibition "Vienna. My Story". You can retrieve the spoken texts and interviews with the curators as well as "behind the scenes" videos covering the subject of restoration via your smartphone or a borrowed device. This content is available in German, English, Turkish, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, French, Arabic, easy-to-understand language, or Austrian Sign Language.
All doors are step-free and have an opening width of over 90 cm.
The restaurant trude & töchter is located on the ground floor and can be accessed independently via the museum foyer and the forecourt. It has space for 70 guests inside and 70 guests in the restaurant garden on the forecourt. It offers modern Viennese cuisine at a fair price and is operated by GMS Gourmet GmbH. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 8 am–12 pm.
The terrace level, which can be reached via the permanent exhibition and via elevators, has a café with drinks and small snacks.
Visitors who bring their own food can eat this in the consumption-free zones on the forecourt, in the entrance pavilion, and on the terrace level. Eating and drinking are not permitted within the exhibition areas.
The elevator at the entrance to the permanent exhibition takes visitors to the first and second floors of this permanent exhibition. All three elevators on the right-hand side of the foyer go to the terrace level and the floor with special exhibitions, while the middle elevator also goes to the basement.
All elevators can be used with wheelchairs/baby strollers.
The permanent exhibition “Vienna. My Story” begins chronologically on the ground floor and continues via the hall to the first and second floors (ca. 3,000 m² of exhibition space). Special exhibitions are shown on the fourth floor (ca. 1,000 m² of exhibition space for one or more exhibitions).
The visitor information desk in the foyer is open during the opening hours of the museum.
Exhibition texts appear in German and English. The digital guide offers content in German, English, Turkish, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, French, easy-to-understand language, and Austrian Sign Language.

The museum shop is found on the left-hand side of the entrance foyer. This offers a comprehensive and exclusive range of merchandise and exceptional souvenirs related to the museum and Vienna.
The permanent exhibition “Vienna. My Story” can be accessed via the stairs in the hall (36+40 steps) and in the Haerdtl staircase (2x 30 steps + 3 steps in the foyer). A staircase leads from the second floor to the terrace level (third floor) (28 steps) and the level with the special exhibitions (fourth floor) (28 steps). The basement level can be reached via the Haerdtl staircase (26 steps).
A study room is located in the basement and scheduled to open in 2024, following the completion of the graphic art and photography repository. Items from the graphic art and photography collections can be examined by visitors with a reservation.
