Vienna's Artistic Heritage

Wien Museum

1040 Vienna, Karlsplatz 8

From medieval stained glass windows to Biedermeier genre paintings and masterpieces by Gustav Klimt und Egon Schiele, the Wien Museum’s permanent exhibition hosts an outstanding collection of art. Spanning hundreds of years and various media, these objects reveal unique insights into the city’s history.

What do these works of art tell us about the lives of the Viennese? Are they accurate depictions of how people worked, lived, ate, and socialized? On this tour we will explore the museum’s unique art collection and ask what these works can reveal about the city’s past.
