In the late 19th century, Vienna was the largest construction site in Europe. Small alleyways gave way to boulevards, while trains and trams were transporting ever larger groups of newly arriving migrants. 

 

Join us to explore the history of Vienna’s expansion into a buzzing metropolis. What was important to city developers and residents as Vienna grew? Who benefited from these changes and who suffered because of them? What remains of this moment? And how to does it continue to influence the Vienna of today?
