1040 Vienna, Karlsplatz 8

Grades 7–12

With their protest movement “Fridays for Future,” young people have massively increased awareness of climate change. But how were things in earlier days – what did people demonstrate for and against, and were they allowed to at all?

Working in small groups, the pupils immerse themselves in the decisive participate movements that have shaped Vienna since the popular revolution of 1848. They assume the roles of witnesses and their classmates interview them about the events of the day. They conclude by drawing up their protest demands for today and learn more about the opportunities that they have for participating in society.
