Where can I park my car?
Please note that the entire city of Vienna is a short-term parking zone. Information about public transport and parking options for each museum/location can be found under "How to get here".
Are there any parking spaces for bicycles?

Can I exhibit in the Wien Museum?
The Wien Museum fixes its exhibition program several years in advance. The topics are generated by the scientific/curatorial team based on ongoing research into the collection and current issues facing urban society. Please send any general inquiries about exhibitions to: direktion@wienmuseum.at
Can all locations be accessed without using steps?
Not all our museums/locations can be fully accessed without using steps. Please note the relevant information about the individual museums/locations.
Is it possible to borrow a wheelchair?
Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the Wien Museum, musa, Hermesvilla and Pratermuseum. We kindly ask you to reserve a wheelchair in advance via: service@wienmuseum.at

May assistance dogs be taken into the museum?
Assistance dogs may be taken into every location with the exception of: Hermesvilla.
What is a sensory bag?
A sensory bag is available for people with special sensory needs. This is a bag that can be borrowed (free of charge upon presentation of a photo ID) and that contains an orientation plan and objects to make your visit to the museum more enjoyable.
Does the museum have free WLAN?
Yes, in the Wien Museum you can use WienMuseumPublic and in the Hermesvilla you can use "Museum". In musa and the Uhrenmuseum the StadtWienHotspot is available.
Are there audio guides?
There is a free digital guide for the permanent exhibition in the Wien Museum. This is available in German, English, Turkish, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, French and Arabic as well as translations in easy-to-understand language and Austrian Sign Language.
Audio guides in German and English are available free of charge at the Haydnhaus and Virgilkapelle.
Is there a cloakroom or lockers?
Please note the information about the individual museums/locations.
May I bring my dog?
It is not permitted to bring animals of any kind. The only exception is a assistance dog and it must be on a leash. Assistance dogs may enter the rooms in all locations apart from the Hermesvilla in Lainzer Tiergarten.
At what age can minors visit an exhibition / go to event alone?
Minors aged 14 and over are permitted to visit the exhibition spaces unaccompanied.

Do outdoor programs also take place in the event of bad weather?
No, please note the information about the individual programs. If you have registered for an outdoor program, you will be notified in case of a cancellation due to bad weather.
Which museums/locations are closed in winter?
The Hermesvilla, Otto Wagner Hofpavillon Hietzing, Otto Wagner Pavillon Karlsplatz, and Otto Wagner Kirche am Steinhof are closed for a period of time during winter. Please note the information about the individual locations. Exceptional openings with guided tours are also possible during the winter break (exception: Hermesvilla) — please send any inquiries to: vermittlung@wienmuseum.at
Can I interrupt my visit and return later?
Admission tickets entitle the holder to a single (on-time) entry to the exhibition premises and are non-transferable. They lose their validity when leaving the building. Exceptions may be designated zones that can be visited without an admission ticket. The staff at the ticket offices will inform you about this.
Where can I find lost objects?
Please send an email to service@wienmuseum.at. Found objects are regularly handed over to the Central Lost Property Service of the City of Vienna (+43 1 4000-8091, 5th, Siebenbrunnenfeldgasse 3. Monday to Friday, 8 am–3:30 pm, Thursday, 8 am–5:30 pm (weekdays)).
Where can I eat and drink?
The exhibition spaces may not be entered with food or drinks.
Visitors who bring their own food and drinks may consume this in the designated zones. Please note the information about the individual museums/locations. In the Wien Museum, visitors who bring their own food and drink may eat this in the pavilion and on the terrace level.
There is a café on the terrace level of the Wien Museum and a restaurant on the ground floor.
Is photography permitted?
Photographs and film footage may be used exclusively for private purposes. Photography is permitted in the permanent exhibition without the use of a tripod, selfie stick, or flash. Please note that all objects marked with a crossed-out camera symbol may not be photographed. Recording film or taking photographs with the help of a tripod and flash or photographic lighting requires special permission from the Wien Museum. If you require images for editorial articles, please contact the Press Office, and for commercial articles, please contact the Reproduction Department. Objects in the special exhibition spaces may only be photographed with permission from the Wien Museum. Any commercial use of such material also requires permission from the Wien Museum.

Can guided tours also be booked outside opening hours?
Yes, exceptional openings with private guided tours are also possible outside opening hours and during the winter break (with the exception of the Hermesvilla). Please send any inquiries to vermittlung@wienmuseum.at. Please note that due to resource planning not all requests can be fulfilled.
How long does a guided tour last?
The length of our guided tours vary. You can find more detailed information about individual tours under Guided Tours & Workshops.
Until when can I book the last guided tour?
Up to two hours before closing time.
How much do guided tours cost?
Participation in a public guided tour costs € 5; a lump sum of € 120 is charged for private tours.
Where can I register for a discussion group (a program for senior citizens)?

Do you offer guided tours in easy-to-understand language or for the visually impaired, the deaf, or people with dementia?

How far in advance do I have to book a private guided tour/a workshop?
Two weeks before the desired date.
How many people may accompany a guided tour free of charge as part of a school program?
The school programs are free of charge for pupils and two accompanying persons (three accompanying persons for inclusive programs).
In which languages can I book a guided tour?
Guided tours can generally be booked in German or English.
Can I book guided tours/workshops for private groups?
Private guided tours can be booked for each of our locations. Find more information here.
Can school groups be split into smaller groups for guided tours?
Yes. Groups are always split when the number of pupils exceeds 20.
Do all of the musicians’ apartments included in the MUSICUS ticket have to be visited on the same day?
No, the musicians’ apartments can be visited on different days. The MUSICUS ticket is valid for one year after the first visit.
Where can I buy the Annual Ticket?
At all locations and online. You can buy your annual ticket directly at the Wien Museum, otherwise it will be sent to you by post.
Can I buy vouchers for tickets?
Vouchers are sold at all ticket offices.
I have registered for an event. Where can I cancel my registration?
You will find a cancellation option in the booking confirmation. You are also welcome to cancel your registration for an event via events@wienmuseum.at.
Are there time slots?
In the event of a large number of visitors, time slots may be allocated for individual exhibitions.
Is there a discount on a guided tour for those who have the Kulturpass?
Kulturpass holders can enter all locations free of charge upon presentation of their Kulturpass. Discounts on a guided tour can only be granted if requested in advance at vermittlung@wienmuseum.at.
Is there a discount for family workshops with the annual ticket or a wienXtra Kinderaktivkarte?
Our family workshops are free for children, adults pay only the entrance fee to the exhibition. If you present the Kinderaktivkarte you will receive a discount on wienXtra events.
Can I also pay for a booked guided tour by invoice?
You are welcome to pay for a booked guided tour by invoice.
Can I cancel a ticket once it has already been purchased?
Please note that your right of withdrawal can only be exercised for goods, but not for tickets.
If you purchase tickets online for a specific date and time slot, this is a leisure event with a specified time period. In this case, according to § 18 Abs 1 Z 10 Fern- und Auswärtsgeschäfte-Gesetz, there is no right of withdrawal.
Advance booking, tickets/registration
Advance sales for special exhibitions usually start 6 months before the month of the exhibition. The educational programs are published in the calendar quarterly with advance sales/registration from the 20th of the previous month, all other events monthly with advance sales/registration from the 20th of the previous month.
Only the museum's own laser pointers may be used in the exhibitions. These can be obtained from the information desk.
What should I do if I don’t receive a confirmation by e-mail?

Can I cancel a ticket that I have bought online?
Please note that your right of withdrawal can only be exercised for goods, but not for tickets.

How do I receive my invoice?
You receive your invoice by e-mail immediately upon concluding the purchase in the webshop.
Are the tickets that I buy online personalized?
No, your name is not printed on the tickets. During the purchasing process you can enter a billing address with a name.
When and how do I receive a ticket that I have purchased online?
You receive your mobile or print@home ticket by e-mail upon concluding the purchase in our webshop.
How long before a guided tour starts should the group arrive at the location?
Please plan enough time to use the cloakroom and the restrooms before the guided tour begins. The cloakroom opens 15 minutes before the guided tour begins.
Is it possible to take a snack break in the museum?
Food and drinks brought by visitors can be consumed in designated zones. Please note the information about the respective museum/location.
Can I book a guided tour with two classes at the same time?
Only one guided tour can be booked for each time slot. For exhibitions without a time slot, two classes can book guided tours at the same time.
Is there a place where visitors can eat food that they have brought themselves?
The exhibition spaces may not be entered with food or drinks.
In the Wien Museum, visitors who have brought their own food may consume this on the forecourt (except in the restaurant garden), in the entrance pavilion, and on the third floor (terrace). Please note the information about the individual museums/locations.
Are there consumption-free areas for visitors?
Yes, the exhibition areas contain seating wherever possible. The Wien Museum has a special consumption-free area for visitors on the terrace level. You can find information about all the other museums/locations on the respective location pages.
Am I entitled to free entry as a journalist?
If you are visiting as part of a current report, we would be delighted to provide you with a complimentary ticket at the ticket office after obtaining accreditation in the Press Office.
How can I receive accreditation as a journalist?
Please get your accreditation in our Press Office.
Is there a baby changing table?
In the Wien Museum there is a changing table for babies in the accessible restrooms at every level. Changing tables are also available in the musa, Römermuseum, and the Hermesvilla museums.
Where can I leave my baby stroller?
Our staff at each location are happy to inform you about where you can leave your stroller. In the Wien Museum, buggies can be parked in the entrance pavilion.

Can we visit the exhibition with a baby stroller?
Yes, but please note that not all areas of our museums/locations can be visited without using stairs. Baby carriages may be taken into the exhibition area if there is sufficient space. The staff at the ticket office will give you more information about this.
Can my underage child visit an exhibition / event alone?
Children aged 14 and over may visit an exhibition alone.
My child is attending an event for children, do I have to be there as a parent as well? Do I have to pay the entrance fee?
Our workshops are aimed at children and their parents. Children may only take part in workshops without an accompanying adult in exceptional cases that are explicitly stated by the museum.
All family workshops are free of charge. In order to participate, however, you will need a valid entrance ticket, the price of which varies depending on the location.
As part of our cooperation with wienXtra, the admission price is reduced upon presentation of the wienXtra Kinderaktivcard at the ticket office.
What is the museum basket?
Families who want to explore the permanent exhibition on their own can borrow the museum basket free of charge upon presentation of a photo ID. The basket contains an exercise book and a number of games.
What does the Wien Museum collect?
The collection of the Wien Museum contains over one million objects. In addition to objects related to the history of the city and everyday life, the museum also has an important art collection with a focus on Vienna. In addition to this, there are also special collections (fashion, clocks, Prater, coins, medals, etc.) as well as archaeological finds.

Can I view the Wien Museum collections?
A selection of objects from the extensive collection can be researched in the online collection of the Wien Museum. The digitization of the museum objects is steadily continuing, while the range offered by the online collection is constantly being expanded.
In the context of a concrete research project, it is possible to view many original objects from the graphic art and photography collection in the study room of the Wien Museum at Karlsplatz. For more information about individual objects and areas of the collection, please contact the responsible curators.
How can I donate/sell something to the museum.
The inclusion of objects in the collection of the City of Vienna is carefully examined in line with our collection criteria. Objects that are added to the collection must always demonstrate a connection to Vienna. Please send your request to direktion@wienmuseum.at. The responsible curator will contact you as soon as possible.

Is it possible to view original items from the Wien Museum collection?
Yes, numerous objects from the graphic art and photography collection can be viewed in the study room of the Wien Museum.
A selection of our extensive collection of objects can also be looked up in the online collection of the Wien Museum.
The digitization of the museum objects is steadily continuing, while the range offered by the online collection is constantly being expanded.
How can the services offered by the study room be used?
Selected items can be viewed with an appointment.
Please send your concrete research request to: studienraum@wienmuseum.at at least one week before your desired visit date. The study room staff will answer your request as quickly as possible, reserve a research station for you, and prepare the requested object(s) from the collection.
I am a tourist guide, where can I receive accreditation for my group?
You are welcome to guide your visitors through the exhibitions of the Wien Museum, but registration is required. You can find details about the process here.

Are there parking spaces for buses?

Which locations are open during lunchtime?
The following locations are open during lunchtime: Wien Museum, Hermesvilla, musa, Römermuseum, Uhrenmuseum and Otto Wagner Kirche am Steinhof.

Which locations can be rented?
The Wien Museum and Hermesvilla (for weddings) can be rented for events, and the Otto Wagner Kirche am Steinhof for weddings, baptisms, and choir concerts.
Can the Virgilkapelle be rented for a baptism/meditation? Can I sing with my choir in the chapel?
This is currently not possible.
Can the Otto Wagner Kirche am Steinhof be rented for a baptism/wedding? Can I sing with my choir in the church?
Yes, boths weddings and baptisms are possible. Please send your inquiry to events@wienmuseum.at.
Can the Hermesvilla be rented as a wedding location?
Yes. For inquiries about weddings and parties in the Hermesvilla, please contact events@wienmuseum.at.
How far in advance must I book my wedding date in the Hermesvilla?
The date should be booked at least eight months in advance.
Can the Hermesvilla be rented for photo shoots?
No, photo shoots are only permitted as part of wedding rentals.
Can the Hermesvilla be rented as a film location?
No, only filming with a cultural-historical background is permitted in the Hermesvilla.
Is it possible to reach the Hermesvilla by car?
Any access requires permission from the Lainzer Tiergarten forest management info-lainzertiergarten@ma49.wien.gv.at.
