Due to the current work on the renovation and expansion of the Wien Museum and the attendant relocation of our graphic and photo archive, we are unable to field private and commercial requests. Scholarly inquiries and requests for new photographs of particular objects require at least one month prior notice. Thank you for your understanding.
Images from the Wien Museum
If you would like to use any images of objects in the Wien Museum’s collections, we will be happy to provide you with high-resolution digital image files of our objects.
Please send inquiries to fotobestellung(at)wienmuseum.at
Please provide as much detail as possible about which objects you are interested in (ideally inventory number or an image) and information about how the image/s will be used (private use, type of publication, print-run, etc.).
While every effort will be made to process your request as quickly as possible, some requests may take several weeks, especially in cases where no inventory number is provided or where new photographs are required. We would therefore advise you to contact us in good time.
We charge a license fee for providing digital image files to cover the Museum’s costs. Where no photograph of an object exists, we are happy to arrange new photography. Please note that in exceptional cases, new photography may not be possible for reasons of conservation.
Should you wish to use the image in a publication, this will incur additional license fees. We offer a 50% reduction for academic publications.
Information on fees can be found in our price list.
Research fees may also apply in cases involving extensive research. We will be happy to provide you with a quote.
Photography and Filming
There may be cases where we are required to limited photography of individual objects or entire exhibitions on legal grounds or for reasons of conservation. We apologize for any inconvenience.
