TOPOGRAPHY AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT

The Topographical Collection of the Wien Museum documents the changes in the shape of the city of Vienna and the transformation in building culture over the last 500 years. In addition to topographical and architectural-historical information, the extensive inventory of graphic works, paintings, photographs, picture postcards, city maps and models also offers insights into life in the public sphere and into historical perceptions of the city. 

The collection is sorted primarily by district and address or by medium criteria. There are also special, theme-based picture collections (fortifications, city waters, infrastructure, war devastation or scheme drafts) as well as collection areas sorted by provenance (author, publisher etc
