The “History and City Life” Collection contains items reflecting the cultural, political, social, economic and day-to-day history of Vienna from 1500 to the present day. It provides evidence in the form of both objects and images of almost all aspects of Viennese city life since the late Middle Ages. Topics covered range from the world of work to that of leisure. With its fashion, clock and Prater collections, as well as its stocks of weapons from the former Civic Armoury, the Wien Museum possesses large, specialised collections which have evolved over centuries. At present the collection focus is on everyday objects from recent decades.
