Born in 1961 in Linz. Student of art history and cultural anthropology at the University of Vienna; Ph.D. 1995. From 1991, at the Visual Arts Division in the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Vienna; head of the Division. Permanent member of the Board “Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Wien” (Public Art Vienna). From 2007 to 2017, Director of the MUSA Museum Startgalerie Artothek, the Department of Cultural Affairs’ exhibition space for contemporary art. Since 2018, curator at the Wien Museum.  

Responsibilities in the collection: painting, graphic arts and sculpture since 1960; new media; art photography in the present; MUSA.

Research interests: art since 1960, interwar period, photography, public art, anthropological approaches to art
